IPL, Bollywood, Shahrukh khan, Kolkata Knights, Akon
So I knew Akon was coming to India to perform but I had no idea it was for a sangeet! (Can everyone stop making fun of Shahrukh Khan for dancing at weddings now?)
Thank you very much.) I guess Kanye West opened up that million dollar baby for American rappers and their myriad ridiculously loaded desi fans huh? But it gets better (or worse) the wedding in question was of Sanjeev Nanda and long-time girlfriend Medha Bhatnagar at a farmhouse in Saket.
Does the name ring a bell? The very same Sanjeev Nanda accused-convicted-and-then-(oddly)-acquitted of running over 7 people with his BWM back in 1999. I actually knew this guy, we went to The British School together in New Delhi and he wasn’t a crazy dude or anything just hopelessly loaded.
(I distinctly remember the gold-plating on all the sofa’s in his house.) Well I guess he’s turning over a new leaf but its still a little creepy and I suppose fitting that Akon has done some jail time himself?
Are you as weirded out as I am yet?! *shudder*

Akon is also doing some IPL performances for Shahrukh Khan’s kick-off party in Mumbai. At the sangeet Akon was wearing jeans and a black tee and swaggered in a little past midnight. He performed for about two hours along with UK-based band RDB, known for their hit songs in Akshay Kumar movies. The pre-wedding bash hosted by one of Sanjeev’s friends featured ghazal singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s as the star attraction.
Spotted: Eesha Koppikar, Timmy Narang,Ramona Narang Rodella, politician Amar Singh, Bakul Nath, Cheena & Anil Vig, Rohit Rajpal, Tanisha Mohan, Priya Chatwal, Tanisha Mohan, Ritu Beri, Dilip and Devi Cherian, Ayesha Thapar, industrialist Peter Punj, Meenu Bakshi, designer Manav Gangwani, singer Adnan Sami with wife Roya and Vijay Arora. The blue décor was designed by Tarun Tahiliani no less!
P.S. Speaking of the IPL did that Fake IPL Player ever out himself? If not I wonder if he’ll be back this year!

Jay Sean, Brit Awards, British R&B Sensation

Forget 'big in Japan,' you know you've made it when you make the list of the top five most searched terms on Google!
And British R&B sensation Jay Sean is now part of that group and can sing along to Kevin Rudolf's "I Made It" with pride!
But while the "Down" star made it in the U.S. and on one of the most used search engines in the world in 2009, he wasn't nominated for one single Brit Award this year, what's up with that?
You would think that U.K.'s music industry would be proud of the fact that Jay Sean is the first British act to land a Billboard Hot 100 number one single since the U.K.'s pop group Coldplay did the same with their track "Viva La Vida" back in 2008.
"Down" became the best selling single by a British/European male artist in North America since Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" in 1997. You would think that would be enough for the awards show to be buzzing about their fellow countryman's success.
But that was not the case at all and Jay got more recognition from U.S. artists at the 2010 Grammys where the star of the evening, Taylor Swift, even sang "Down" on the red carpet!
Given all the accolades and praise that this British artist has been given internationally, it's a shocker that he wasn't even mentioned at the Brit Awards!
Whatever the reason, we're sure Jay is taking it all in stride while focusing on his career! Go Google!

AR Rahman, Oscar, Slum Dog Millionaire, Grammy Awards, Taal, Delhi 6, Rangeela, Dil se, Lagaan
A.R. Rahman's name is recognized worldwide! His humble beginnings and passion for music have led him to dominate the charts, win many prestigious awards, and gain international acclaim.
A.R. Rahman began his career creating music for Tollywood. He then went to Bollywood and this year he dominated Hollywood, walking home with two Grammys.
But despite his Hollywood success, A.R. Rahman continues to compose for Bollywood films, so let's take a look at A.R. Rahman's top 5 Hindi soundtracks to this date.
In 1995 Urmila scorched the screens with her sexy moves in "Rangeela." Of course Urmila was moving to the sounds of A.R. Rahman. Urmila plays the role of Mili who hopes to become an actress. The soundtrack for "Rangeela" was actually A.R. Rahman's Hindi debut. Enjoy the song "Rangeela Re" from the movie!
Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala starred in "Dil Se." The movie told a unique story and was shot beautifully. It was also Priety Zinta's theatrical debut. The music, created by A.R. Rahman, was powerful and carried the story beautifully. One of A.R. Rahman's most memorable songs is from this film. "Chaiyya Chaiyya" shows Shahrukh and Malaika Arora Khan dancing upon a train and just loving life. Watch it here.
"Taal" is a movie about a musical family, a daughter's musical career, and a love saga! Aishwariya Rai Bachchan is our leading lady in this film, while Anil Kapoor is the supporting actor, and he went on to win three awards for his performance. With so much emotion and musical drive, who better than A.R. Rahman to compose the soundtrack? A.R. Rahman won three awards as well for his musical composition and singer Alka Yagnik won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback singer for "Taal Se Taal Mila." Enjoy!
"Lagaan" made Bollywood proud as it was nominated at the Oscars! Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh gave amazing performances. The story is set in the Victoria era. As the villagers at this time want to fight Britain's imposed taxes, they settle their differences over a game of cricket. With a slightly traditional and once again moving force in the film, A.R. Rahman created a masterpiece! This folk soundtrack won A.R. Rahman another Filmfare award for his accomplishment and Kumar Sanu won the award for Best Male Playback singer for the song "Mitwa." Check out this fun number.
A.R. Rahman won yet another Filmfare Award for his music direction for the film Delhi 6 last weekend. Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor make a sweet couple in this movie. The soundtrack contains less dance and flowery number and more earthy and fold sounds. The songs "Gendha Phool" and "Masakalli" both caught on with music listeners despite its departure from the dance and urban sounds. Enjoy "Masakalli" below.
Some honorable mentions for this list are the soundtracks of the films "Saathiya," "Rang De Basanti," and "Guru." What can we say; A.R. Rahman is amazing at what he does and serves as inspiration for so many! Many of us have also become familiar with A.R. Rahman's Tollywood soundtracks as films like "Jeans" and "Bombay" have been translated to Hindi. As A.R. Rahman has reached another peak in his career, we are all eager to hear what he creates for us next. Let us know what some of your favorite A.R. Rahman Bollywood tunes are.

King Khan, My Name Is Khan, shahrukh, Bollywood

Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, who left a trail of fans swooning at the red carpet premiere of "My Name is Khan" at the Berlin International Film Festival, says self-mockingly he keeps getting better looking and he would soon "look like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise".
Mimicking his character Rizwan Khan in the film, he said: "There's something in my genes. I keep getting better looking - and I just can't control it. Soon I'm going to look like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. But beyond that I've no problems."
German fans from Berlin, Hannover, Hamburg and Munich thronged the streets even as it snowed for a glimpse of actors Shah Rukh, Kajol and filmmaker Karan Johar at the Friday night premiere, where the film received a thunderous ovation.
"I have never understood the love of my German fans or why Germans love Bollywood so much, but I am very thankful for it. Germany has genuinely opened a window for Indians to Western cinema. I am here to serve the audience, I am servile. My job is to make people smile," Shah Rukh said at the premiere.
Among his fans in the snow was Elke Kolloge, 50, mother of three who had come from Hannover to Berlin just for a glimpse of her favourite star.
"I just love Shah Rukh, his personality, his honesty. My husband doesn't like this at all! Luckily my daughter Lisa is his fan too. I have seen all SRK films, including 'Paheli', 'Swades', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and 'Om Shanti Om'. I really hope Shah Rukh gets the Oscar next year!" (IANS)

Bollywood Movie 2010, Rajeeti, Katrina Kaif

Release date: January 22, 2010
The new film by Prakash Jha is entitled Rajneeti (political significance) and Katrina Kaif plays a leading role in a minister in the film. Katrina Kaif is looking like the Indian leader Sonia Gandhi.Ajay Devgan and Ranbir Kapoor is also in the role of leader in Rajneeti as an actor.
Prakash Jha is back in rajniti silverscreen after his loss in real terms Rajneeti, but not defeated and would not. It will collect and may experience some actual experience Rajniti for its most anticipated Rajniti. As the hindi movie Rajneeti, another Hindi movie is coming in 2010 and the name of this movie is Dhruv. Stylish Kareena Kapoor plays a leading role in this film. It is based on based on the political dynamics of the relationship between man and woman.
Rajneeti is a film that tells the journey of an ordinary woman (Katrina) the fight against corruption to the day that becoming prime minister.
It will also show the emotions of a woman in politics, the suffering endured by a woman in the dark world of politics.
We learned that, to soak up the diction Katrina Kaif has taken certain classes of speech and it looks as video clips of women ministers, including that of Sonia Gandhi. It also seeks to emulate the ways of Gandhi in his character. According to the director of Katrina is perfect for the role and he could not think of any other star, but time has a response if Rajneeti will be knocking on the ticket or bombs.
Katrina Kaif is one actress who work hard. She works very hard on his dialogue delivery to the Prakash Jha film, Rajneeti where she plays a politician (apparently inspired by Sonia Gandhi). She has always had a strong accent when she speaks in Hindi, but she tries to improve his pronunciation. Whenever she has free time at home, she practices her lines so it does not hurt for dubbing the film. She wants her acting skills to take into account the film and possibly even win some prizes. Well, we wish her all the best for her nice role.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif
What’s it that’s making Katrina Kaif run away from Ranbir Kapoor films? The reports suggesting that kats has opted to walk out of director Imtiaz Ali’s film which had Ranbir Kapoor as her co star to work in Zoya Akhtar’s (Farhan Akhtar’s sister) film opposite Hrithik Roshan as her co star is creating more furore than it actually calls for.

There were rumors doing the rounds that Kats opted out of a film opposite Ranbir inspite of having tasted the waters of success with him in 2009 with the super hit film ‘Ajab Prem…..and there fore being tagged as the hottest couple in filmdom. Even though the two are yet to come n their next film ‘Rajneeti’ but they are not playing the love couple in it as Katrina has a very serious politician’s role in the film.
