He has tickled audiences' funnybone many a time with his comic acts. Now actor Boman Irani is to play the Indian version of Playboy magazine chief Hugh Hefner in upcoming comedy "Fruit And Nut".

Boman Irani, Fruit and Nut

Boman plays an old Maharaja, Harry Holkar in the film who not only lives with young and pretty women, like Hefner does in real life, but also claims authority over Mumbai as his princely state that his forefather's have ruled.

"There are different shades to the character but it is some of the funniest characters I have ever played. It's weirdly funny. We are aware that Mumbai never had a maharaja but there is a meaning to it," Boman said in a statement released here Wednesday.

He has also been shown to have his own dungeon very much like Hefner's Playboy mansion where he celebrates life in style.

Even the initials of Boman's character have been consciously kept the same as Hefner's to attribute a similarity to the flashy billionaire.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is known for making multi-starrer action thrillers. His next offering "Acid Factory", which releases Friday, continues the trend and is about the horror of self-discovery.

Said to be inspired by Hollywood's "Unknown" (2006), it has been produced by Gupta's White Feather Films and directed by Suparn Verma. Made at a budget of Rs.25 crore, including print and publicity, the film is releasing with around 800 prints worldwide.

Acid Factory - Bollywood 2009

Starring Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Manoj Bajpai, Dia Mirza, Fardeen Khan and Irrfan Khan, "Acid Factory" is about five men confined in a factory. What complicates matters is that the past of these men has vanished in a haze of coma and they suffer sudden memory loss.

As the story unfolds through the hazy mist of confusion confounded by loss of memory, the audience is just shown five men who wake up inside an acid factory to find themselves locked in the claustrophobic nowhere land.

What is slowly revealed is that two of the trapped people have been kidnapped and held hostage by the other three for a robbery. But the irony is they themselves don't know who the hostages are and who the kidnappers are.

Their fears are heightened by a phone call from the gang leader who informs them that he is on his way with the loot and plans to knock off the two hostages as soon as he arrives. Everyone fears for their life and they plan to escape but fail. The boss eventually arrives and what follows is mayhem.

Describing his role, Aftab said: "My character in the film is that of a very aggressive, edgy and violent guy. It was a challenge to portray a character like this because personally I'm a calm person. But my character in the film has a very bad temper.

"I really had to leave myself behind and keep imagining the character so that I could do my best. I couldn't afford to be calm or composed; I had to be hyper in almost all the scenes."

Dino plays a wicked character in the movie.

"I am playing a 'kamina' in the movie. In the film, we all have lost our memories. So it would be interesting for people to watch it," said Dino.

After playing roles in many forgetful movies, Dia is also looking forward to the film as she is the only female character in it and has performed several stunts on her own.

" 'Acid Factory' is one of my biggest films. I really worked hard for the film," she said.

With the box office going good with movies like "Do Knot Disturb" and "Wake Up Sid" and a slew of big-budget movies lined up for release, it is to be seen if "Acid Factory" lives up to the buzz and hype too.

Frankly speaking, I have got tired of movies based on terrorism. Gosh! can't we move on and make something new? Okay, no doubt most of the movies are really good. But I think somewhere we shall put a coma, or fullstops to such stories....anyways. [see the lineup? New York, Kurbaan and then MNIK..]
Kurbaan 2009
One thing everyone is noticing is : Bebo and Saif looks Hawt!! Hot!! they look so much in love in this one rather than their earlier pairings. Though the trailer reminds bits of Fanaa. And the song has beats similar to 'khuda ya khair' [the village version from Billu]. Sonu Nigaam is back :) with music of Salim Suleiman. ...Lets see, what KJo has in stores.

Here's the trailer released with Wake Up Sid, this friday.

This is the story of Siddharth Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor), a lazy, unmotivated slacker from Mumbai whose life undergoes a series of changes after taking his final year college exams. Sid’s world is breezy, carefree, and without any true responsibilities. The most important elements in his life are his friends, his camera, his car, and his Playstation 3.

Wake Up Sid

Sid thrives around his two best friends, Rishi (Namit Das) and Laxmi (Shikha Talsania), very rarely communicates with his mother Sarita (Supriya Pathak) and takes his father Ram Mehra (Anupam Kher), and all his hard earned wealth for granted. Despite all these traits, Sid is an honest boy; sweet, funny, and above all, a good friend. Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Calcutta, learns this soon enough when her path crosses with Sid’s on her first day in Bombay, Ambitious, well-read, and driven, Aisha has come to Bombay to realize her dreams as a writer. Despite their contrasting personalities. Sid becomes Aisha’s first friend in the city.

As Aisha sets up her life in Bombay, with the help of Sid and his gang, Sid allows for time to fly by over long drives, parties that stretch well into dawn, and endless hours doing absolutely nothing. But summer comes along and leaves Sid’s life completely changed. A series of circumstances and events compels him to take stock of his life and take a hard look at himself. Will he, at some point, figure out what he’s supposed to be doing with his life?
